Top Terrazas: Conde Duque
It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood! The sun is shining, friends are smiling, and it's the perfect time of year to grab a drink outside on your favorite terraza. Conde Duque is blessed to have not one, but three plazas with great options to meet up and tomar algo.
Top Terrazas in Conde Duque (in no particular order):
Plaza de las Comendadoras
Café Moderno
The winning combination of heavy pours, plentiful tables, and fast service make Café Moderno the ideal spot on this giant plaza. Bonus points for the corner location that gets sun most of the day.
Roll Madrid
Roll is an American style restaurant (think sandwiches and brunch) that has a craft beer menu in addition to copas, wine, and seasonal options like lemonade. Situated between Calle Amaniel and Bernardo Lopez Garcia, it's in the center of the action and gets the best of both worlds year round. Sun in the mornings and shade in the warmer afternoons.
shout out to the bars on Calle del Cristo, a pedestrian street linking the plazas:
La Casita de Patri and Pepa y Josefa offer modest outdoor seating (ranging from 4-6 tables each) but the atmosphere is always lively. Friendly service and good food round out these two local spots.
Plaza de los Guardias de Corps
La Taberna de Corps
Did someone say "old man bar"? This place is a classic no-frills bar. No bigger than a postage stamp and you won't hear a word of English inside. Top tip for this spot is the cross-breeze it gets year round. Perfect for a hot summer evening.
MICA
Sitting just across the tiny plaza is MICA. Better known for its (delicious) Italian fare, MICA has a a drink menu that includes Italian wines, beers, and alcohol-free options. Go for a drink and stay for the eggplant parm. Trust me.
Plaza de Cristino Martos
MÜR Café
Coffee, cocktails, brunch-you can enjoy it all under the shady trees on this less-trafficked plaza. The green space and relative quiet is a nice respite from the busyness of nearby Calle Princesa.
And an honorable mention to Sambhad Cocktail Bar which lies on the edge of the plaza along Calle Princesa. They have a great variety of gins and friendly personnel.
